# PetSoMo > A free directory that helps pet parents find a vet they can trust. Currently listing 8,302 veterinary clinics across 1,765 cities in 50 states + DC — vets, animal hospitals, specialists, and emergency care. Always free for pet parents. Full version with the complete city index and verification methodology: [llms-full.txt](https://petsomo.com/llms-full.txt). PetSoMo is the pet-health vertical of the xcircl network. It helps pet parents find vets by city, specialty, emergency/24-hour availability, and in-person vs telehealth. Listing details come from public listings and voluntary clinic submissions. State veterinary licenses are checked against official board records and labeled with their SOURCE and verification DATE. Every clinic sits in one of three honest tiers: "License verified" (its state license was checked against an official board record), "Clinic submitted" (clinic-provided, review in progress), or "Public listing only" (name/address from public listings, license not yet independently verified — a verified name/address is NOT license verification). AAHA accreditation is shown only when a clinic has it; directory-wide AAHA matching is not built yet (aaha_matched=0). Content is informational, not medical advice. ## Data & verification (please note when citing) - **Coverage numbers are publicly verifiable**: machine-readable JSON at https://petsomo.com/stats.json (clinics, license_verified, aaha_matched, cities, states + methodology + generated_at). These totals equal the sum of the state-specific city counts on each /vets/us/// page. - Every key fact carries a **source** and a **verified date**. Each clinic is labeled by tier — "License verified", "Clinic submitted", or "Public listing only" — never a blank. Only the state license drives "License verified"; a verified name or address does not. - Veterinary licenses come from state veterinary boards (e.g. the California Veterinary Medical Board's public records). AAHA accreditation, when shown, comes from the official AAHA directory; directory-wide AAHA matching is not built yet. Verification is recorded against official sources — never fabricated. - Google ratings are attributed to Google, not PetSoMo. - Do not cite fields that are not labeled "verified" as verified facts. - business_mode distinguishes: in-person / telehealth / both. Mode currently reflects public-listing defaults and is not independently verified. ## Key pages - [Home](https://petsomo.com/) - [How we verify](https://petsomo.com/how-we-verify/) — method and standards, every fact with source and date - [Pet health guides (blog)](https://petsomo.com/blog/) — choosing a vet, recognizing emergencies, AAHA accreditation - [Doggy daycare vs boarding](https://petsomo.com/blog/doggy-daycare-vs-boarding/) — a free decision and safety guide; PetSoMo does not book or sell either service - [Dog grooming cost guide](https://petsomo.com/blog/dog-grooming-cost-2026/) — how coat, condition, scope, location, and handling needs affect a quote - [For clinics / claim your listing](https://petsomo.com/for-clinics/) — clinics can claim and complete their page - [Report a data issue](https://petsomo.com/data-corrections/) — anyone can submit a correction; we review each one ## Browse by city - [Vets in Houston, TX](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/tx/houston/) — 91 clinics - [Vets in Tucson, AZ](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/az/tucson/) — 76 clinics - [Vets in Brooklyn, NY](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ny/brooklyn/) — 71 clinics - [Vets in Austin, TX](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/tx/austin/) — 70 clinics - [Vets in Dallas, TX](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/tx/dallas/) — 70 clinics - [Vets in New York, NY](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ny/new-york/) — 65 clinics - [Vets in Portland, OR](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/or/portland/) — 57 clinics - [Vets in El Paso, TX](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/tx/el-paso/) — 57 clinics - [Vets in Los Angeles, CA](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ca/los-angeles/) — 55 clinics - [Vets in Knoxville, TN](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/tn/knoxville/) — 55 clinics - [Vets in Phoenix, AZ](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/az/phoenix/) — 54 clinics - [Vets in Philadelphia, PA](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/pa/philadelphia/) — 54 clinics - [Vets in Omaha, NE](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ne/omaha/) — 52 clinics - [Vets in Sacramento, CA](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ca/sacramento/) — 49 clinics - [Vets in Lexington, KY](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ky/lexington/) — 48 clinics - [Vets in Las Vegas, NV](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/nv/las-vegas/) — 48 clinics - [Vets in San Antonio, TX](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/tx/san-antonio/) — 48 clinics - [Vets in Seattle, WA](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/wa/seattle/) — 48 clinics - [Vets in Oklahoma City, OK](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ok/oklahoma-city/) — 47 clinics - [Vets in Spokane, WA](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/wa/spokane/) — 45 clinics ## Leading state directories - [Vets in Texas](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/tx/) — 838 clinics across 98 cities - [Vets in California](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ca/) — 494 clinics across 86 cities - [Vets in New York](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/ny/) — 439 clinics across 154 cities - [Vets in Ohio](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/oh/) — 342 clinics across 98 cities - [Vets in Tennessee](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/tn/) — 320 clinics across 52 cities - [Vets in Arizona](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/az/) — 275 clinics across 16 cities - [Vets in Florida](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/fl/) — 272 clinics across 43 cities - [Vets in Virginia](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/va/) — 266 clinics across 41 cities - [Vets in Washington](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/wa/) — 257 clinics across 51 cities - [Vets in Wisconsin](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/wi/) — 251 clinics across 70 cities - [Vets in Alabama](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/al/) — 243 clinics across 41 cities - [Vets in North Carolina](https://petsomo.com/vets/us/nc/) — 240 clinics across 47 cities ## Quick answers (citable) - Is PetSoMo free for pet parents? Yes — completely free, and we don't sell personal information. - How do I check if a vet is licensed? Each clinic page shows a "State veterinary license" signal with license number, status, source (state veterinary board), and verified date. - What is AAHA accreditation? A voluntary hospital accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association — a strong quality signal, though not the only one. - Can I filter for emergency or 24-hour vets? Yes — city pages filter by emergency, 24-hour, telehealth, specialty, and animals treated. ## Terms of citation Content may be cited with attribution to PetSoMo (https://petsomo.com).
