Privacy Policy

Who we are

PetSoMo is a free directory that helps pet parents find a veterinarian they can trust. It is operated by xcircl LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect from visitors, what business data we publish about clinics, and how you can exercise your rights.

We hold no pet-owner or animal health records

PetSoMo is not a veterinary provider, pharmacy, or telehealth service. We do not collect, store, or process your pet's medical records, diagnoses, prescriptions, or appointment details. The data we publish is supply-side business information about clinics — not information about you or your animal.

What we collect

  • Analytics — aggregate, privacy-preserving usage measurement (pages viewed, approximate region, device type) via Google Analytics 4, used only to improve the site. See “Cookies & analytics” below for how we run it.
  • Data corrections — if you report an inaccurate listing through our data corrections form, we collect the field you flag, the correction, an optional evidence link, and — only if you choose to provide it — your email, so we can follow up. Giving an email is optional.
  • Clinic claims — when a veterinarian or clinic claims their page, we process the work email they submit to send a one-time verification code and confirm they represent the clinic. Details they then submit (hours, services, fees) are written back to the public listing, labeled “Clinic submitted.”
  • Essential login data — for clinics that sign in to manage a claimed listing, we store the account email and the session cookie needed to keep them logged in.

Cookies & analytics

  • Essential cookies — first-party session cookies used only for clinic login. Pet parents browsing the site are not required to accept them.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics 4) — we run GA4 with Google Consent Mode set to denied by default. No analytics or advertising cookies are placed on your browser unless you grant consent; until then, analytics runs in cookieless, aggregate mode. We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

You can also block cookies in your browser and opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on. Blocking non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to use the site.

The clinic data we publish & its sources

Each fact on a clinic page carries its provenance — a source and a verified date — as described in how we verify. Sources include:

  • Public business listings, including Google Maps (name, address, rating — attributed to Google)
  • State veterinary licensing boards (public license records)
  • The AAHA accredited-hospital directory
  • Clinics' own public pages and details submitted after they claim a listing

How your requests reach a clinic

PetSoMo does not run a “contact this clinic” lead form and does not collect, broker, or sell pet-parent contact details as leads. When you want to reach a clinic, you use the clinic's own public phone number, website, or Google Maps link shown on its page — your request goes directly to them, not through us.

How we use & share data

We use the limited data above to operate the site, review corrections, verify clinic claims, and prevent abuse. We rely on a small set of service providers that process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Resend (sending claim-verification email), and Google Analytics (aggregate measurement). We never sell your personal information, and pet parents are never charged. The business facts we compile feed xcircl's data layer as de-identified clinic facts only — never visitor data, never contact PII.

Data retention

Correction reports and claim records are kept for as long as needed to act on them and maintain listing accuracy, then deleted or aggregated. Verification codes expire within minutes of being sent.

Your rights & deletion requests

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you — including a correction email you submitted or a clinic-claim record. California residents may additionally opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information; we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email support@petsomo.com, or use our data corrections channel. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Clinics: correct or remove your data

If you represent a clinic and want to correct or remove business information, use the data corrections channel or claim your page to update it directly.
